Mattress Care Guide
Correct setup and simple maintenance help a mattress stay clean, supportive and comfortable. Always follow the product label and manufacturer instructions where they differ from this general guide.
When the mattress arrives
- Check the product and packaging before use and report visible damage or an incorrect item promptly.
- Use care when removing plastic or cardboard; do not cut deeply near the fabric.
- If the mattress was compressed, place it on the correct base and allow the manufacturer-recommended recovery time.
- A temporary “new product” smell can occur with some foams or packaging. Ventilate the room and seek advice if an odour is strong, persistent or accompanied by irritation.
Use a compatible bed base
The base should be level, undamaged and strong enough for the mattress and sleepers. Follow product rules for slat spacing, centre support and adjustable bases. Do not place a mattress on a sagging base. In humid conditions, adequate ventilation beneath the mattress can help reduce trapped moisture.
Protect from the first night
Use a breathable, washable mattress protector. It helps guard against perspiration, spills, dust and stains that may affect hygiene or warranty eligibility. Choose one that fits the mattress depth without pulling the corners out of shape.
Rotate only as recommended
Many mattresses benefit from head-to-foot rotation during initial settling and periodically afterwards, but the schedule varies. Do not flip a one-sided mattress. Ask before rotating a zoned, articulated or specialist model because orientation can matter.
Cleaning and spills
- Vacuum gently with a clean upholstery attachment.
- Blot a fresh spill—do not rub or soak the foam and spring layers.
- Use only a small amount of mild, manufacturer-approved cleaning solution.
- Allow the area to dry completely before replacing bedding.
- Do not use harsh bleach, solvent, steam or a wet-extraction machine unless specifically approved.
Ventilation in the UAE climate
Air the room and bedding regularly and avoid trapping moisture beneath the mattress. Maintain reasonable indoor humidity and address leaks or condensation promptly. Never cover a damp mattress or place it directly on a wet floor.
Moving the mattress
Use two people where needed, protect the mattress with a clean moving cover and keep it supported. Do not drag, sharply bend, fold or tie it unless the manufacturer says the design permits this. Side handles, where fitted, are commonly intended for positioning rather than carrying the full weight.
Avoid preventable damage
- Do not jump, stand or place concentrated heavy loads on the mattress.
- Keep away from open flame, heaters and smoking materials.
- Do not remove permanent product, law or warranty labels.
- Keep pets’ claws and liquids away from the sleep surface.
- Do not attempt unauthorised repairs or alterations.
Normal settling versus a possible defect
Comfort layers normally soften and develop shallow body impressions. A deep permanent indentation, broken spring, exposed component or sudden loss of support may require assessment. Check the base first, then follow our Warranty Information claim process.
